Role details

This post is based at our partner institution, Communication University of China (CUC), in Beijing, China. It involves delivering Academic English provision to students on the Sino-UK Joint BA programme in Media Communications and our Masters Programmes in Broadcast Journalism, Media and Globalisation, and Museum and Heritage Development, with CUC.

Responsibilities
  • Teach English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to students in the first and second year of the four-year dual award programme and the first year of the two-year Masters programme.
  • Prepare and deliver EAP classes for up to 16 hours per week on campus at CUC in Beijing.
  • Support students through 1-1 and group tutorials.
  • Assess students’ performance formatively in class and through summative assessments.
  • Work closely with co-tutors and the leadership teams in the UK and China to ensure programme success.
  • Be based at CUC in Beijing, working as part of a small team there and maintain regular contact with the NTU team in the UK.
  • Be in China for a minimum of two periods of at least 90 days each academic year, aligned to CUC’s calendar.
Qualifications and experience
  • Experience of EAP teaching in a higher education context.
  • Experience teaching large groups of learners.
  • Knowledge of curriculum developments, contemporary teaching practices, and the ability to transfer this knowledge to support the partnership with CUC.
