Specific duties and responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Teach a number of sessions each week, including lectures, seminars, and tutorials.
- Maintain attendance registers for teaching sessions and work with the attendance team to ensure the accuracy of the information entered for students on digital registers.
- Deliver and facilitate teaching sessions in line with the approved programme and module specifications.
- Work in line with Regent Digital provisions, including VLEs and MS Teams.
- Ensure student engagement during sessions.
- Develop teaching materials for modules.
- Update class notes and other materials, and ensure the VLE is regularly updated.
- Suggest improvements to enhance the student academic experience through appropriate channels.
Assessment and Marking
- Set assessments for students and ensure at least 90% submission rate for all modules on time.
- Support the production of assessments for modules and ensure they are approved according to relevant procedures.
- Participate in standardisation meetings.
- Provide formative feedback to students as appropriate.
- Mark summative assessments according to the approved assessment brief and provide timely, constructive feedback within deadlines.
- Identify and escalate cases of possible academic misconduct according to assessment board procedures.
Student Support
- Address issues of student engagement or performance, signposting students to specialist College services as needed.
- Handle pastoral requirements and refer students to relevant services.
- Monitor progress of students’ Learning Support Plans, liaising with specialist services as necessary.
Quality Assurance
- Provide module evaluation reports at the end of each module.
- Contribute to programme evaluations as required.
- Participate in Programme Committee meetings, contributing to continuous improvement and sharing good practices.
- Engage with the College’s quality assurance and governance frameworks.
- Reflect on student feedback to identify areas for improvement and good practices.
- Contribute to programme accreditation and quality control processes.
Scholarship
- Engage in scholarship activities to support teaching and update knowledge.
- Apply scholarship insights to teaching and external activities like knowledge transfer.
- Disseminate and apply the results of scholarship.
Managing People and Resources
- As module leader, coordinate with support staff and colleagues to meet student needs.
- Manage projects related to your work area and external activities such as placements.
- Mentor less experienced colleagues and advise on professional development.
- Coordinate module delivery to meet standards.
- Propose content or structural changes to modules.
- Design and deliver modules and assessments, considering established practices.
