Job summary

Edinburgh Napier University invites applications for a Lecturer in Cyber Security and Systems Engineering to support our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and to undertake research aligned with our academic interests.

You will teach across cybersecurity curriculum, computer systems and systems engineering, and contribute to the first two years of electronic and electrical engineering, while mentoring students and developing your research with guidance from experienced staff.

Qualifications

• Doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Demonstrable fit with the Subject Group's research profile, particularly through application of AI/ML to cybersecurity engineering, post-quantum cryptography, 5G/6G networks, communications, real-time and cyber-physical systems.
• Ability and experience to teach a wide range, including cybersecurity curriculum, computer systems, system engineering, and specifically the first two years of electronic and electrical engineering curriculum.
• Evidence of a growing publication record in high-quality journals and conferences in the related field.
• Evidence of or potential for collaborative research and industry engagement.
• International visibility appropriate to the level, including reviewer roles, conference/workshop engagement, technical programme committees and other professional service.

Currently, we are accepting applications for the post of Lecturer in Cyber Security and Systems Engineering to support our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and undertake relevant research in line with your academic interests.

The Role:

As Lecturer in Cyber Security and Systems Engineering, you will be in an excellent position to use your knowledge and understanding of systems engineering, systems architecture and cyber security to support students on our suite of programmes.

The lectureship will be based in the Cybersecurity and Systems Engineering Subject Group, which has one of the best track records for research impact in computer science and informatics in the UK, and the post will provide you with the opportunity to use your excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills to engage and inspire our students, while monitoring their performance and working with our Academic Skills colleagues and other University services to support their progress.

You will also be given the remit to undertake formative assessment of these students, using assessment instruments provided, and under the guidance of experienced staff, working collegiately to help deliver an excellent learning and teaching experience for all involved.

Furthermore, you will be mentored and guided by Edinburgh Napier staff in developing your research and the delivery of modules, using pre-existing course delivery plans and materials. This will give you the opportunity to work closely with module and programme teams and team leaders, enabling you to work to high standards and potentially make suggestions based on your own skills and experience to enhance the curriculum. Your research will be supported by our research and innovation services.

£46,049 p/a - £58,225 (depending on experience)

Contract:

Permanent, Full Time - 35 hrs/wk
