Job summary

Study Group, in partnership with the University of Huddersfield, invites applications for a full-time academic staff role at the London Campus. The post involves designing teaching materials and delivering across modules, assessing students, supervising projects, and contributing to research within a dynamic academic environment.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline, have a strong research record, and aim to achieve Fellowship of Advance HE within 12 months.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related field is required.
  • Strong research and publication background with evidence of scholarly output.
  • Fellowship of Advance HE or commitment to achieve it within 12 months.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate modules across listed subjects and postgraduate modules.

Responsibilities

  • Design teaching material and deliver across modules or within a subject area with appropriate teaching, learning, support and assessment methods.
  • Design, mark and provide feedback on formative and summative assessments.
  • Plan learning outcomes and materials within the subject team.
  • Contribute to curriculum revision and development.
  • Supervise student projects, field trips and placements.
  • Maintain records of attendance and progress and handle academic administration.
  • Act as a personal tutor and provide student support.
  • Develop an active research profile with publications or outputs and engage in scholarship.

Salary: up to£54,000 per annum

In addition to teaching responsibilities, academic staff will actively engage in research, contributing both to scholarly advancement and to the development of a vibrant academic community at the London Campus.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  • Design teaching material and deliver across a range of modules or within a subject area using appropriate teaching learning support and assessment methods to ensure student’s progress
  • Design, mark and give feedback on appropriate formative and summative assessments, providing opportunities for students to improve
  • Within the subject team plan design and develop learning outcomes and materials
  • Contribute to the revision and improvements in the curriculum content and delivery
  • Supervise student projects, field trips and placements
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records of student attendance and progress and complete all associated academic administration
  • Act as a personal tutor, offering support or signposting students as required
  • Develop an active research record securing appropriate publications or other recognised forms of output and engage in subject professional and/pr pedagogy research and scholarship
  • With support coordinate and lead small modules in own subject area to ensure student expectations are met
  • Participate in and develop external networks
  • Contribute to the internal and external quality assurance process
  • Contribute to recruitment activities eg, participating in webinars, taster lectures
  • Participate in team meetings departmental and school meetings and committees
  • Ensure the implementation of the university’s and Study Group’s policies and regulations within the remit of the postholder’s duties
  • Undertake other duties as directed by or in agreement with the Head of School or other Senior Leadership Team members
ABOUT YOU
  • PhD degree (or equivalent) ordoctoral degreein Computer Science orrelevant discipline
  • Strong research and publication background, with evidence of contributing to academic 2* journals and above, conferences, or professional publications
  • Fellowship of Advance HE or to be achieved within 12 months of appointment
  • Experience teaching undergraduate modules in at least one of the following (Network Fundamentals, Organisation & Architecture, Mathematics, Programming, Data Structures, AI, Operating Systems, Databases & Web Integration)
  • Experience teaching postgraduate modules in at least one of the following (Autonomic Intelligent Systems, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Semantic Web, Software Development, Web & Network Services)
