The Global Banking School seeks a motivated Lecturer in Business and Tourism to enhance our academic offerings. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of both business principles and tourism management. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, supervising student projects, and engaging in research activities that advance the field. A passion for fostering student success in a global context is essential.

We are currently seeking Full time Lecturers to teach Business and Tourism related courses. You will also need to be flexible to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Teaching across a range of foundation year, level 4 and 5 modules for the Business and Tourism Management Programme, including Understanding Customers, Tourism Marketing Principles and Entrepreneurship in Tourism.

Responsibilities include:

  • All aspects of planning, delivering, and assessing student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met.
  • Developing, updating, and improving course materials as appropriate.
  • Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials including live online learning.
  • Attending meetings as required, to contribute to the decision-making process and to develop productive working relationships within the various teams.
  • Actively being involved in staff development activities and peer observations.
  • Understanding and keeping up to date with student support to ensure our students have the full support and guidance they need.
  • Participating in the GBS performance management programme, meeting a range of clearly defined objectives for student outcomes, student satisfaction, retention and attendance.
  • Undertaking administrative duties as agreed with your line manager.
  • Taking on other responsibilities as required to support the work of GBS.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • An honours degree and Master’s level in a relevant subject area, and usually holding a PhD or demonstrating equivalent high-level professional experience in the related discipline.
  • A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
  • Previous lecturing experience for similar courses.
  • Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback.
  • Experience teaching in the wider subject area.
  • Experience with distance learning and supporting learners both online and face to face.
  • Professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter.
  • A firm commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Attention to detail and accurate reporting.
  • Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records.
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
