Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, is looking to recruit aLecturer in Automotive Engineering on a full-time, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £39,198 - £43,740 per annum. As of August 2025, this role will benefit from a 3% pay award.

The Lecturer in Automotive Engineering Role:

As ourLecturer in Automotive Engineering, you will deliver high quality and effective teaching and learning in Automotive Engineering subject areas to Bournemouth and Poole College students.

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Automotive Engineering will include:

  • Teach on courses as agreed with the Learning Manager across the Automotive department including Level 1 to Level 3 (Full time and Apprentices), F-Gas, and Electric/Hybrid vehicles to reflect the needs of the department and students.
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum
  • Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:
  • individual learning styles.
  • support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • extension resources/activities for students of higher ability.
  • general resources, including the use of Information Learning Technology.
  • Organise and participate in relevant visits, enrichment visits, ship visits, and liaise with external organisations to enhance the learner experience.
  • Create an outstanding student experience which leads to progression or employment
  • Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers, and College managers, as appropriate.
  • Take appropriate responsibility to ensure the health and safety of self and others
  • Develop and maintain effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and represent the College at relevant meetings internal and external.
  • Contribute to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course
  • Internal verification
  • Act as a Personal Tutor to students, full time students/apprentices
  • Representing the College at internal and external events and meetings including student recruitment and admissions events

As our Lecturer in Automotive Engineering, you'll ideally have:

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Math's
  • Teaching Qualification or willingness to achieve within 2 years
  • Appropriate Assessor Qualification A1 or TAQA or willingness to achieve within 1 year (sponsored)
  • Level 3 Automotive Apprenticeship Light Vehicle
  • Trained First Aider – or willing to undertake training upon starting
  • Experience in the Automotive Light Vehicle industry
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience light or heavy
  • Experience facilitating learning for students in either an educational or workplace setting
  • Knowledge of current industrial practices or teaching in field(s) of expertise
  • Knowledge of Examining bodies such as IMI or City & Guilds
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
