Lecturer in Animal Management

Where you’ll work: This role is based at the College’s Hadlow campus

Your hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum

Your pay: £33,225 – £42,100 per annum depending on teaching and other qualifications and experience.

North Kent College (including Hadlow College) is proudly rated as an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider, with ‘Outstanding’ learner behaviours and attitudes (April 2024). With four campuses across Kent and 4,000 students, we strive to equip the young people who study here with an inclusive and innovative education experience to enhance their future career prospects, which, as noted by Ofsted, is supported through our high-quality, industry standard facilities. Each and every staff member plays a key part in delivering the success of our learners’ experience, and we want those who join our curriculum and support teams to share our passion in achieving this.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced individual to join our Animal Management team at Hadlow College as a Lecturer, supporting the delivery of our curriculum.

This role involves providing high quality teaching and learning experiences for students in both practical and theory delivery across all Animal Management subject areas. You’ll be required to prepare, teach, and assess at a variety of qualification levels, predominantly at Further Education level, providing support and guidance to your learners as they progress through their studies. There may be also opportunity for some Higher Education teaching. Due to the nature of this role, occasional evening and weekend working will be required.

The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge of the curriculum area, which may be enhanced by any relevant industry / professional experience, as well as a formal qualification that underpins this knowledge. Teaching experience, particularly within Further Education, would be advantageous but isn’t essential. Likewise, although a full teaching qualification (at Level 5 or above) isn’t required at this stage, you would need to secure this within 3 years of appointment.

We need you to be a team player and an excellent communicator, able to maintain a proactive approach and an eye for detail whilst working to challenging deadlines.

In return, you will receive 42 days’ annual leave (pro-rata) plus bank holidays (pro rata) and access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (with life assurance). You will also benefit from free parking and have access to a range of onsite facilities including a restaurant, shop, garden centre and a free gym.

For a full job description and to apply, please visit North Kent College’s staff vacancies page.

The closing date for applications is Monday 26th May 2025.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 5th June 2025.

Safeguarding Statement

North Kent College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and all staff have a responsibility to share and maintain this commitment. In line with the requirements of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, appropriate safeguarding checks (including an enhanced DBS check) will be undertaken on all individuals selected for appointment. It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to complete and submit prior to their interview a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children.
