Job description

Job Title: Lecturer in Hospitality & Catering

Newcastle College is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and qualified professional to join us as a Lecturer in Hospitality & Catering. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and assessing high-quality programmes within our further and higher education catering provision, tailored to meet the needs of hospitality students. The role also includes programme administrative responsibilities to ensure effective course management.

A key focus will be supporting learners in developing employability skills relevant to the industry, promoting independence, and preparing them for progression into further and higher education and employment.

Responsibilities:
  1. Planning and delivering practical and theory sessions that meet the diverse needs of students, both individually and in groups.
  2. Assessing students' abilities and learning styles to provide personalized support.
  3. Monitoring and tracking students' progress, providing constructive feedback, and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.
  4. Motivating students and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  5. Collaborating with parents, guardians, and educational staff to ensure student success.
  6. Managing programme administration to ensure effective course delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Strong vocational background within the hospitality & catering industry, with proven experience in developing learners' technical and employability skills.
  • Ideally, an honours degree (Level 6) or an industry-recognized qualification in professional cookery or a related field.
  • Post-16 teaching qualification or a commitment to achieve this within an agreed timeframe.
  • Level 2 English and maths qualifications, or willingness to attain them.
  • Proven track record in delivering and assessing vocational training programmes with a focus on progression and learner success.
