Job Description:

The School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Professional at Kingston College is seeking a Lecturer to teach both HE and FE vocational courses related to Engineering within the school, for full time, access and apprenticeship students. You’ll be responsible for the delivery, conduct, and progress of students on these courses in line with College and School policies and procedures, ensuring the provision for these students is of a high quality.

Your main responsibility will be to teach on Level 4/5 HNC and HND Engineering courses, teaching on units such as Engineering Design and Thermodynamics. The STEP school also runs Access courses for 19+ learners, such as Access to Engineering and Access to Computing. On the Access to Engineering course, you will deliver units such as Motion, Energy & Forces, and Thermal Properties of Matter.

You will also teach Mathematics on a range of programmes to mainly adult and 18+ learners, this could be on Access to Engineering and Access to Computing courses, which have mathematics specialist units, such as numerical methods, algebra, trigonometry, and maths for computing. You will also teach on FE vocational courses relating to Engineering, teaching Further Mathematics units to our BTEC Level 3 Engineering students.

As our Lecturer, we would like you to hold a relevant degree or higher-level academic qualification (eg. HND) in an appropriate subject, hold professional industry qualifications and/or experience in a related industrial environment and have experience of delivering training in an engineering environment or taught engineering in an educational setting. With knowledge in areas of engineering and mathematics relevant to the curriculum offer of the section, you will hold a teaching qualification (or willing to work towards), taught engineering at level 3 and participated in recent and relevant continuous professional development.

Able to use new technologies to enhance teaching and learning to support students, you will have an awareness of academic quality standards and be receptive to new ideas and initiatives with a creative approach to problem solving. With good planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills and good attention to detail, you will have high personal standards and expectations with good general IT skills, including familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
