Do you have a passion for hairdressing and a desire to inspire the next generation of stylists? Peterborough College is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and industry‑experienced Lecturer in Hair to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to share your expertise and support learners across Levels 1–3 as they develop the technical, creative and professional skills needed for a successful career in the hair and barbering industry.

The Role
  • Deliver high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment across a range of hairdressing and barbering programmes.
  • Plan and develop engaging schemes of work, lesson plans and learning resources, including online content.
  • Assess learner work, provide constructive feedback and monitor progress through SMART targets.
  • Support learners to develop confidence, skills and industry‑ready behaviours.
  • Contribute to course reviews, internal verification and quality improvement processes.
  • Participate in marketing, interviews, open evenings and other recruitment activities.
  • Deliver all elements of the study programme, including English, Maths and Work Experience where required.
  • Work collaboratively within the team to ensure high levels of retention, achievement and learner satisfaction.
About You
  • <>Professionally qualified in hairdressing to at least Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Industry‑experienced, with up‑to‑date knowledge of trends, techniques and sector developments.
  • Passionate about teaching, able to inspire and motivate learners of all abilities.
  • Organised and adaptable, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident using technology and e‑learning to enhance teaching.
  • Committed to safeguarding, equality, and creating a supportive learning environment.

A teaching qualification (Level 5 or equivalent) is desirable. If you do not yet hold this, you must be willing to work towards it. Assessor/IV qualifications are also desirable.
