Job description

Job Title: Lecturer in GCSE English and Functional Skills

The School of Foundation, Intermediate Learning and Employability at Kingston College is seeking a Lecturer to teach GCSE English Language and English Functional Skills. The role involves teaching predominantly to students aged 16-19, with allocated 2 hours per week for Functional Skills classes.

Responsibilities include following approved schemes of work and assessment schedules, setting weekly marked work recorded on Pro-Monitor, preparing students for exams, marking homework and mock exams, monitoring student progress, and curriculum development where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • A degree or relevant professional qualification in an appropriate subject.
  • A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Excellent teaching skills in GCSE English and/or Functional Skills English.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and passion for education.
  • The ability to support, motivate, and empathise with learners.
  • Proficiency in using new technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • High personal standards, good planning, organisational, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
