Job description

Role: Lecturer for Fashion, Textiles and Art

Location: Uxbridge

Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time (28.8 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (0.8 FTE). Potential days to be worked: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday).

Salary: Up to £32,455 to £45,260

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and experienced Lecturer in Fashion, Textiles and Art to join a thriving Department of Creative Studies at a college in Uxbridge. This is an exciting opportunity to teach and inspire learners across Levels 2 and 3 on a range of creative programmes including:

  • L2 Diploma in Fashion Business and Retail
  • Level 2 Art and Design
  • L3 Art & Design - Fashion & Textiles

The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in fashion and textile design, along with an ability to engage students through innovative teaching practices and contemporary industry knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in fashion, textiles, and art disciplines
  • Prepare high-quality schemes of work and learning resources
  • Support students through the full learner journey, including induction, reviews, and progression planning
  • Embed Functional Skills and digital learning tools within the curriculum
  • Participate in course coordination, team meetings, quality reviews, and performance management activities
  • Engage in student recruitment, open evenings, and promotional events
  • Uphold high standards in safeguarding, equality, and inclusion across all aspects of teaching and student support
Essential:
  • Minimum of HND in a relevant subject (Fashion, Textiles, or Art & Design)
  • GCSE (Grade C/4 or above) in English and Maths (or willingness to achieve)
  • Experience teaching Fashion and Textiles up to Level 3, and Art & Design up to Level 2
  • Strong practical expertise in areas such as research, design sourcing, fabric manipulation, and textiles
  • Passion for delivering inclusive, engaging, and high-quality learning experiences
