Job description

Are you passionate about marketing and consumer behaviour? Do you want to make a real impact through high-quality teaching and research that shapes the future of the fashion and creative industries? Join us at Manchester Fashion Institute, part of Manchester Metropolitan University, where we are committed to delivering outstanding education and research in line with the University's Road to 2030 strategy.

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Marketing Specialist with expertise in Consumer Behaviour to join our interdisciplinary and inclusive academic team.

About the Role

As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will:

  1. Deliver innovative, engaging teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supporting students to develop as critical, creative, and industry-ready professionals.

  2. Apply your expertise in marketing, particularly consumer behaviour, to the fashion and creative industries. While direct experience in fashion is not essential, the ability to contextualise marketing theory and practice within the sector is key.

  3. Embed current marketing practices such as brand management, data-driven decision-making, and consumer insight into the curriculum.

  4. Contribute to the vibrant research and knowledge exchange culture within the Institute, producing high-quality outputs and engaging with external stakeholders to develop impactful partnerships.

  5. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students and support the wider academic community through mentoring, collaboration, and inclusive teamworking.

We welcome applications from individuals with:

  • A strong academic background in marketing, with a focus on consumer behaviour.

  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development in higher education.

  • A research profile aligned with marketing, consumer insight, or related fields, with evidence of research outputs or the potential to deliver them.

  • A commitment to inclusive, student-centred education and a passion for supporting student success.

  • The ability to engage and collaborate with industry to enhance teaching, research, and employability outcomes.
