Job Title: Lecturer - Fashion

Location: West Midlands

Salary: £27,665 - £40,644 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)

Hours: Flexible hours during term-time

Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Fashion Lecturer to join our Creative Studies team. You will deliver engaging teaching across Levels 2 and 3, helping students master garment design, pattern cutting, print and digital techniques, and portfolio development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and deliver high-quality lessons in fashion design, pattern cutting, garment construction, and digital techniques.
  • Support students through workshops, project-based learning, and live briefs (e.g., industry-based challenges, fashion shows).
  • Guide students in creating mood boards, textile manipulation, pattern drafting, digital print design, and portfolio curation.
  • Provide structured feedback and assess student work to support progression.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and local industry contacts to offer real-world insights and guest brief events.
  • Assist in curriculum development and mapping to BTEC/VRQ frameworks.
  • Promote equitable, inclusive, and safe learning environments.
  • Participate in college-wide initiatives (e.g., open evenings, outreach, enrichment projects).
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Fashion Design, Fashion Business, Textiles, or related disciplines.
  • Proven industry experience in garment production, pattern cutting, or fashion print.
  • Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or CAD tools.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 diploma) or commitment to obtaining one.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or ability to secure one).

Desirable:

  • Prior teaching experience in FE, college, or industry mentoring.
  • Experience managing end-of-year shows or live project briefs.
  • Involvement in curriculum production or continuous professional development.
  • Awareness of current industry and sustainability trends.
