Job Description:

China Medical University – Queen’s University of Belfast Joint College (CQC) was established in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) through a long-standing friendship between Queen’s School of Pharmacy and the China Medical University (CMU), one of the foremost medical universities in China. CQC is a College that has full approval from the China Ministry of Education (MoE) and was created in accordance with the MoE ‘Cooperation in Running Schools’ (CIRS) Regulations. The first students graduated from CQC in July 2018, with many opportunities thereafter for CQC graduates to enter onto postgraduate courses at Queen’s Schools in Belfast.

The School of Pharmacy at Queen’s University Belfast is currently seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Lecturer (Education). The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and delivering education for the School’s portfolio of research postgraduate programs in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. They will also contribute to administration, outreach, and citizenship as required, in addition to maintaining a portfolio of appropriate scholarly activity.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Honours degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical science, biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Obtained or about to obtain a PhD in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
  • Evidence of the ability to publish.
  • Evidence of effective and innovative teaching experience, commensurate with the career stage.
  • Ability to contribute to teaching in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
  • Ability to design course materials and plan/organize the delivery and assessment of taught courses in their own specialism.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information concisely and clearly.
  • Experience of teaching non-native speakers in English.

Contract Type:

This is a fixed-term post for 5 years. Fixed-term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but may be renewed or made permanent in particular circumstances, subject to the availability of funding.
