Overview

The School of Nursing & Midwifery at Queen's University Belfast is seeking to recruit a Lecturer Education in Children's Nursing AC2/AC3. Please note AC2 grade is a Lecturer at start of career. AC3 grade is an established Lecturer. The job description and employee specification set out the duties and criteria for each grade.

The successful candidate at AC2/AC3 will undertake teaching in the area of Children's Nursing at undergraduate and postgraduate level, will develop or maintain a portfolio of appropriate scholarly activity and contribute to the School's academic development and quality assurance processes. The AC3 Lecturer will also develop innovations in teaching, learning and quality assurance processes and contribute to School administration and outreach activity.

Established in 1991, Queen's School of Nursing & Midwifery provides a range of innovative programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, which prepare nurses, midwives and healthcare professionals for leadership roles in clinical care, teaching, management and research.

With approximately 3,500 students, the School has one of the most extensive portfolios of programmes of any nursing and midwifery school in the UK or Ireland.

About the person

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Primary degree in Nursing or a related subject (AC2 and AC3 criteria).
  • Higher degree or about to obtain (Masters or equivalent in Nursing or a related subject area) (AC2 and AC3 criteria).
  • Current registration status with the Nursing & Midwifery Council as a Registered Children's Nurse or possession of the qualifications required for such registration (AC2 and AC3 criteria).
  • Evidence of ability to publish (AC2 and AC3 criteria).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (AC2 and AC3 criteria).
  • Evidence of scholarly activity e.g. conference paper presentations, external funding secured, book reviews published, writing practice manuals, publication of professional materials (AC3 criteria only).
  • Experience of lecturing or teaching, commensurate with stage of career (AC2 and AC3 criteria).
  • Experience of student mentorship / or pastoral tutor (AC2/3) criteria).
  • Minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in Children's Nursing (AC 2 & 3 criteria).
