Job description

The Guildhall School of Music & Drama is a vibrant, international community of young musicians, actors and theatre technicians in the heart of the City of London. We produce outstanding graduates whose talents light up stages and concert platforms throughout the world. As well as providing professional training at junior, undergraduate and postgraduate level, the School has a substantial programme of regular performances, encompassing concerts, recitals, plays, operas and musicals open to the general public.

This full-time post of Lecturer in Performance Design is being created ahead of launching the new programme in September 2025. You should be an enthusiastic teacher of performance design practices, a strong communicator and an insightful collaborative worker. In addition to supporting students in their daily studio practice and overseeing projects which teach the full range of performance design skills, you will have specific responsibility for teaching computer-aided design (CAD)for performance design, alongside digital packages including Procreate and Adobe Photoshop.

The successful candidate will have a lively professional portfolio, experience of teaching in Higher Education and a clear ability to work positively and collaboratively with other people.
