Teach the trade. Build confidence. Help students shape their future in motor vehicle engineering.
Motor vehicle engineering is changing quickly.
Students still need strong practical skills, safe workshop habits and a clear understanding of maintenance, diagnostics and repair. But they also need to understand where the industry is heading, including electric vehicles, hybrid technologies and changing employer expectations.
As our Motor Vehicle Engineering Lecturer, you’ll help learners build that foundation.
You’ll teach across Motor Vehicle Engineering provision, particularly at Level 1 and Level 2.
You’ll help students develop the technical knowledge, workshop skills and professional behaviours they need for further study, apprenticeships and employment.
You may already be an experienced lecturer. You may be an industry professional with strong automotive experience who has trained, coached or supported others and is ready to move into education.
Either route is welcome.
What matters is that you can bring real motor vehicle engineering experience into the classroom and workshop, explain practical and technical skills clearly, and support learners to grow in confidence.
At Wigan & Leigh College, our lecturers help students reach their full potential.
In Motor Vehicle Engineering, that means helping learners develop the technical skill, safe working habits and professional behaviours they need for the automotive industry.
Some students will be taking their first steps into the trade. Others will be preparing for apprenticeships, employment or further study.
Your experience can help them understand what good work looks like, why standards matter and where the industry could take them next.
This is also a strong route for automotive professionals who are ready to move into teaching. If you have the industry knowledge and practical experience, we can support you to develop your teaching skills and work towards a recognised qualification.
You’ll join a college that values practical learning, high expectations and strong support for students. Your work will help learners build confidence, develop skill and take their next step.
