Job summary

East Kent Colleges Group is seeking an Automotive Lecturer to drive automotive education by bringing industry expertise from workshop to classroom. You will teach, train and assess students across Level 1–3, and lead designated study programmes, delivering engaging, innovative lessons that build skills and confidence.

The role is part-time (15 hours per week) with a salary of £15,151 to £16,599. Working pattern: Wednesday and Thursday 8:30–5:00. Informal enquiries to jobs@ekcgroup.ac.uk.

Qualifications

  • Highly organised and creative educator capable of planning and delivering engaging, innovative lessons.
  • Ability to track student progress and plan targeted interventions.
  • Experience teaching or delivering training in the workplace is desirable but not essential.

As an Automotive Lecturer at East Kent Colleges Group, you’ll have the opportunity to turn your industry expertise and passion for automotive into an inspiring learning experience for the next generation.

You’ll teach, train and assess students across a range of engaging learning environments, combining your practical knowledge with innovative teaching to help learners develop the skills, confidence and knowledge they need to succeed. You’ll be there to support and motivate every learner, helping them reach their full potential and take the next step towards a successful career.

You’ll also play a key role in leading designated study programmes and/or courses, taking ownership of their design, delivery and evaluation. From the workshop to the classroom, you’ll help create an environment where students can thrive, develop their skills and get ready to drive their future careers forward.

We pride ourselves in the support we can give those who are new to teaching, with ongoing training and coaching through our Teacher Academy whichincludes digital skills support. So, if you do not have any teaching experience or teacher qualifications but have a passion for sharing your knowledge and would like to be considered for this teaching role.

This vacancy is working 15 hours per week with a salary of £15,151 up to £16,599.

Working Pattern: Wednesday and Thursday 8:30-5:00.

About You

You’ll be a highly organised and creative educator, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging, innovative lessons that inspire learners. You’ll have strong interpersonal skills, a positive and empathetic approach, and the confidence to manage a classroom effectively. Tracking student progress and using this to plan targeted support and interventions will be a key part of your role.

Ideally, you’ll have experience teaching or delivering training in the workplace, although this isn’t essential as full training will be provided. You’ll be able to teach across Level 1 to Level 3 programmes and motivate learners to achieve and succeed in their studies.

There are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once one full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. (Lecturers must be in post by 1st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval). Therefore, internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification
