Taking Teaching Further & Additional Incentives

If you’re making the move into further education teaching, you may be eligible for the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme a funded route to help industry professionals retrain as FE teachers.

In addition, for roles in high-need subjects or regions you may also benefit from the government’s targeted retention incentive (formerly “levelling-up premium”) payments, worth up to £6,000 for eligible teachers in their first five years and teaching certain shortage subjects.

Are you an experienced healthcare professional ready for a new challenge? Could you see yourself using your knowledge, skills and experience to inspire the next generation of health and care professionals?

Whether you are an experienced educator or a nurse, healthcare practitioner or other health professional considering a move into teaching, we would love to hear from you.

You will bring current industry knowledge, a passion for your profession and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed. You will be confident sharing your expertise, able to build positive relationships with learners and committed to creating an engaging, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

You will ideally have an appropriate degree and teaching qualification, or be willing to work towards one. Most importantly, we are looking for someone with relevant experience in the health sector who can bring the realities of professional practice into the classroom.

You don't need to be an experienced teacher to make a difference. If you have the right professional experience, enthusiasm and passion for developing others, we will support you to develop your teaching skills and make the transition from healthcare professional to lecturer.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into education while continuing to make a real difference — helping students develop the knowledge, confidence, practical skills and professional behaviours they need to build successful careers in health and care.

If you're ready to share your experience, inspire future professionals and take the next step in your career, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

You’ll play a key role in inspiring and developing the next generation of health and care professionals, bringing your industry knowledge and experience to life in the classroom and practical learning environment.

Our Health and Care provision is thriving and continues to grow, delivering programmes from Level 1 through to Level 4, alongside T Level Health and adult provision. You’ll work with a diverse range of learners, helping them develop the knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours they need to progress into employment, higher education and rewarding careers within the health sector.

Role Responsibilities

As a Lecturer in Health and Social Care, you will use your professional knowledge and experience to inspire, support and develop our students, helping them to build the skills and confidence needed for successful careers in health and care.

You will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality teaching across a range of Health and Social Care programmes, from Level 1 to Level 4, including T Levels and adult provision.
  • Bring your current industry knowledge and professional experience into the classroom, helping students understand how their learning applies to real-world healthcare settings.
  • Develop innovative and practical learning experiences using our outstanding Health Hub and immersive learning facilities.
  • Support students to develop their practical, technical and professional skills, preparing them for progression into employment, higher education or further study.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported, valued and encouraged to achieve their potential.
  • Monitor student progress, attendance and achievement, providing appropriate support and intervention where required.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in a health, healthcare, nursing, social care or related subject.
  • Relevant professional qualification/registration appropriate to their area of healthcare practice, where applicable.
  • Teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards an appropriate teaching qualification.
  • Relevant experience working within the health or care sector, with up-to-date knowledge of professional practice.
  • Relevant experience within the health and care sector, with a good understanding of current practice, professional standards and the expectations of the healthcare workforce.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and industry partners.
  • The ability to share your knowledge and professional experience in an engaging and accessible way, making complex topics understandable and relevant to learners.
What’s in it for you?

Join EPNE and you’ll be part of a culture that prioritises your development and wellbeing, which is why all employees receive an extensive benefits package.

  • Enjoy a generous holiday allowance ranging between 35-48 days per year, plus public holidays - (Excluding Term Time Only contracts)
  • Generous family leave and flexible working options (dependent on role)
  • LGPS or Teacher Pensions Scheme - depending on role
  • Access to myLifestyle benefits platform providing retail discounts and more.
  • We offer dental, eye care & health cash plans.
  • Extensive wellbeing support through a digital Wellbeing Hub that offers a broad range of support for physical, mental, and financial wellbeing.
