Job summary

We are seeking a teaching assistant to join a welcoming school in Southampton. You will support pupils' learning, development and wellbeing, working closely with teachers and support staff to help every child reach their potential academically, socially and emotionally.

You will assist individuals and small groups, encourage engagement and independence, and help maintain a safe, structured classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in educational, residential, care or similar settings.
• Ability to build positive professional relationships with pupils.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils' learning, development and wellbeing in collaboration with teachers and support staff.
• Assist individuals and small groups to access learning effectively and encourage engagement, confidence and independence.
• Contribute to behaviour management and classroom organisation.
• Assist safeguarding processes and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
• Participate in meetings and training as part of ongoing professional development.
