A leading educational institution in Shetland seeks a Learning Support Worker to assist children with additional support needs. The role involves collaboration with teachers and specialists to ensure effective learning and support for students in a nurturing environment. To assist in the management and education of children and young people with additional support needs (ASN).
A Learning Support Worker may be asked to work with any child or group of children within a department or a mainstream class. They may work alongside and receive guidance from any teacher within the school. Work around an individual child may be based on an individualised education programme, followed by all staff working with the child or young person, and may involve collaboration with professionals and therapists such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Child Psychologists.

Sandwick Junior High School, a non-denominational school located in Sandwick in the South Mainland of Shetland, offers year-round early years provision and out-of-school care for primary pupils. The school serves the community of Sandwick and surrounding areas, with classes from S1 to S4, catering to pupils from South Mainland schools. The school roll is approximately 200 pupils. The school is managed by a Head Teacher, two Depute Head Teachers, a Principal Teacher for Pupil Support, a Principal Teacher for Additional Support Needs, and a Manager of Early Learning and Childcare and Out of School Club.
