Learning Support Worker

Axcis are working with a college in central Gloucester who are looking for a learning support worker to work full time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8.30-5.00 and Friday 8.30-4.30, starting ASAP. This role will be supporting the specialist SEND department situated near the Gloucester docks and involves providing a mixture of 1-1 and general class support as necessary.

The students in this department have a mix of needs, but experience with social, emotional mental health needs, Autism, and more complex learning needs would be desirable, as these are the prominent needs of the learners. You will be supporting the students in Maths, English, and IT mainly. Subject knowledge isn't necessary, but the right person—someone who is caring, compassionate, reliable, and hardworking—is essential.

The pay is £16.50 per hour, paid weekly, a week in arrears every Friday. The role is to continue on a full-time long-term basis until the end of the academic year. The college is keen to appoint the right support ASAP, which would initially involve a Teams call/interview with the college. Should that go well, there will be a paid trial week followed by ongoing work if you are successful.
