Job summary

Yeovil College is seeking a Learning Support Practitioner to support learners on a part-time, term-time basis. You will work 35 hours per week and play a pivotal role within our SEND team, supporting students one-on-one and driving strategies to promote academic and personal growth.

Applicants should have Level 2 English/Maths or equivalent, and ideally the Level 3 award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 English or Maths or equivalent, or willingness to achieve.
  • Level 3 award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities or willingness to work towards.
  • A great communicator who can engage with the students.
  • Compassionate and respectful of the learner’s needs.
  • Passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

  • Support students one-on-one to help them reach their full potential.
  • Drive the fitness to study process and promote student success.
  • Liaise with staff, parents and carers to support learners.
  • Empower students to develop time management, organisation and life skills.

As a key member of our team, you’ll make a lasting impact by supporting students one-on-one, helping them reach their full potential. You’ll collaborate with passionate educators to create a supportive environment where students thrive academically and personally. Building strong relationships with staff, parents, and carers, you’ll drive the “fitness to study” process and implement strategies that promote student success. Acting as a liaison, you’llempower studentsto develop essential life skills like time management, organisation, communication, budgeting, and decision-making.
