Job description

Smile Education is recruiting passionate and committed Learning Support Practitioners to work in one of our partner specialist schools based in Walsall. The role involves supporting students aged 16–25 with a range of special educational needs (SEN) in a supportive and structured educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support and small group assistance to students aged 16–25
  • Support learners with a range of SEN including:
    • Physical disabilities
    • Autism
    • ADHD
    • Trauma and anxiety
    • Hearing and visual impairments
  • Promote social interaction and independence, particularly over lunch periods
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored learning support
  • Encourage engagement and emotional wellbeing within a safe environment
  • Work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualification to work as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Practitioner
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • Recent experience supporting young people with SEN
  • Confident working independently and committed to a long-term role
  • Available to attend a summer induction and school tour
