Job summary

A local primary school in Brynmenyn is seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Officer to join their motivated teaching team. The successful candidate will provide essential support to pupils and collaborate closely with staff. Applicants should be qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and possess experience in a school setting. Ability to communicate in Welsh is essential. This role includes a 30-hour work week with essential responsibilities in pupil support and curriculum engagement.

Job description

The Governors of Brynmenyn Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and conscientious learning support officer to work in a highly motivated, friendly teaching team.

The successful candidate will provide essential support to pupils and be able to demonstrate this across the primary phase. They should also:

Be able to work in close partnership with teaching and other support staff.

Have a good knowledge of primary practice in order to contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities.

Have a good understanding of additional learning needs and promote inclusion.

Have experience in delivering intervention work for pupils.

Be highly motivated and able to work on their own initiative.

Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.

Work alongside staff to champion an area of the curriculum.

Be dedicated to their own professional development and school improvement.

Be able to make a positive contribution to the wider life of school.

Be prepared to undertake 30 minutes lunch duty per day.

You will be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and have good experience of working with children in a school environment.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
