Job Title: Learning Support Mentor
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour
Contract Type: 15-30 hours per week, Permanent
Start Date: Immediate

Are you passionate about supporting student learning and making a positive impact in the classroom? GSL Education are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join a local school based in Bournemouth as a Learning Support Mentor immediately.

About the School:

The school is a Good Ofsted-rated school which provides a safe, inclusive, and innovative learning environment for children aged 4 to 16, with a strong focus on individualised support and emotional well-being. We specialise in helping students with needs like - ASD, ADHD, and SEMH through personalised mentoring, practical tutoring, and engaging, real-world activities. Our experienced staff create flexible learning experiences both in and out of the classroom to build confidence, life skills, and a love for learning. Physical Education and sensory-based learning play key roles in supporting mental and physical health. With a strong safeguarding framework and close collaboration with families, we ensure every child feels supported to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Mentor, you'll play a vital role in supporting teachers and students, helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in education while making a difference in the lives of young learners in Bournemouth.

Responsibilities:

  • Taking students offsite to engage in Sport and various other activities within the community
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and providing one-on-one support to students, especially those with learning difficulties or special needs.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment by managing classroom dynamics and encouraging good behaviour.
  • Prepare teaching materials and organise resources to enhance learning experiences.
  • Assist in assessing students progress and provide feedback to teachers and students.
  • Follow individual care and medical plans, administering medication and supporting personal care needs as required.
  • Foster student independence and utilise effective communication techniques.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of special education needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education.
