Job description

Learning Support Assistants - Full and Part Time, Bristol

We are working on behalf of a SEND school in Henbury seeking to appoint 2 Learning Support Assistants across their primary site. This is an exciting opportunity to work at a rapidly expanding Special School.

The school has a dedicated team of staff, governors, and parents/carers who support 80 children and are passionate about their progress, happiness, and care.

The school, located in Henbury, North Bristol, caters to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Pupils with SEMH may have limited social skills and find it difficult to make and sustain healthy relationships, displaying behaviors such as withdrawal, disruptive conduct, or emotional difficulties including anxiety, depression, or disorders like ADD, ADHD, attachment disorder, or generalized anxiety.

Experience is desirable but not essential; transferable skills from careers such as sports coaching, personal training, police, prison officers, or nursery/early years educators are highly valued.

Candidates should bring energy, confidence, enthusiasm, and a commitment to inclusion. The school provides a comprehensive induction within a supportive team. Under guidance, you will support individual or groups of children to achieve learning targets. This is an exciting period of development for the school.

The roles are contract and permanent, 7 hours per day, term-time only, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Start date: As soon as possible, depending on notice period and DBS check, or September 2024.

Applicants must have the appropriate qualifications and training. Please see the Protocol Education website FAQs for details.

Pay rates are inclusive of holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanent employment later.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding children and conducts checks in line with DfE guidance. All workers will undertake safeguarding checks, including online searches if necessary. We offer free online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training. Candidates must have or obtain a valid enhanced DBS check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance is provided. For our privacy policy, visit the Protocol Education website.
