Ysgol Y Deri in Penarth, part of Cyngor Bro Morgannwg, is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team.

We cater to pupils with a range of needs and provide a dynamic, person-centred curriculum focused on unlocking potential and positive outcomes.

The role includes supporting groups and delivering 1:1 academic sessions across the curriculum, with an enhanced DBS and EWC registration required.

Qualifications

Ysgol Y Deri is a local authority day special school maintained by the Vale of Glamorgan local authority. Currently there are over 550 pupils on roll.

On the Penarth site pupils are aged between 3 and 19. We support children and young people, with either severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, social emotional and mental health needs or autistic spectrum disorders.

About the role

Pay Details: Grade 5 SP (8 - 12) £27,709 - £29,542 + SEN allowance Pro rata

(Actual pro rata pay amount is roughly £22,913 - £24,428)

Hours of Work / Weeks per year / Working Pattern: Full Time (Monday- Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm) Term time only.

Main Place of Work: Ysgol y Deri (Penarth, Barry Campus, Llyn Derw or Derw Newydd)

We are looking for people who are willing and able to turn their hand to a variety of Curriculum areas and activities; someone who can help our pupils engage and enjoy life affirming experiences. Whilst a background in special needs is not essential, a strong understanding of the needs of learners with ALN and/or social, emotional and mental health needs would be advantageous.

This would ideally suit someone who loves working with children, someone who loves to impart knowledge and support children to thrive. The successful candidate should be prepared and excited to take on something completely different. The role on offer includes supporting and teaching groups of pupils as well as 1:1 academic lessons across our curriculum.
