Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in a specialist setting? Are you a recent graduate dreaming of becoming a future Psychologist?

A unique and friendly Special School in Westbury is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to help pupils with special educational needs. The students have a range of needs, including Autism, learning difficulties, speech and language needs, and mental health challenges. The school seeks a candidate who is understanding, patient, and has a positive, proactive attitude!

As a Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include setting classroom boundaries, helping pupils understand the value of education, supporting their emotional needs, and ensuring they feel safe and supported. You will also manage challenging behavior and provide pastoral support, serving as a positive role model for students.

If you are a graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology, this is an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge of atypical behavior and development while gaining practical experience in the mental health sector. Previous experience working with children or adults with additional needs—whether professional or personal—would be beneficial.

The school emphasizes restorative practices, positive reinforcement, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support. This role is ideal for aspiring Forensic, Clinical, or Educational Psychologists, as well as Youth and Criminal Justice Officers.
