The Scott Centre within The Littlehampton Academy seeks a dedicated assistant to support students with autism spectrum disorder and related communication needs. You will implement plan-based strategies and help students access mainstream learning in collaboration with subject teachers.
You will monitor progress, adapt materials, and provide engaging activities during breaks, lunchtimes and field trips, contributing as a flexible member of the academy team within the broader school community.
The Scott Centre (TSC) is a special support facility for students of mainstream ability who have social and communication needs. All students have an EHCP for Autism Spectrum Disorder or Semantic Pragmatic Disorder.
This is a description of the main duties and responsibilities of the post at the date of production. The duties may change over time as requirements and circumstances change. The post-holder may reasonably be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility from time to time.
Working alongside subject teachers in mainstream classes to support students’ access to learning, using appropriate strategies and adapting curriculum materials as necessary
Implementing strategies and actions detailed within individual plans
Monitoring and evaluating students’ responses and progress against targets through observation and recording
Supporting students during unstructured times, including break and lunchtimes, providing a variety of activities
Supervising students on trips, visits and out of school activities
Other responsibilities that may reasonably be required, working as part of the academy team and providing a flexible resource
