Job summary

Sussex Learning Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our Additional Learning Support team. The post involves working with our SEND/EHCP students across a range of subjects to support learning in mainstream classes and in targeted intervention sessions.

The role is 30 hours per week, term time only plus inset days, on a fixed-term contract until July 2027. Salary: SLT pay grade C £25,615-£26,017 per annum FTE; actual salary £17,813-£18,092.

Qualifications

• Excellent organisation and communication skills.
• Genuine passion for education and supporting vulnerable students.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
• Willingness to learn and use digital systems.
• First aid/diabetic experience preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support students to access lessons across the school.
• Develop an understanding of the needs of the students you will be working with.
• Build students’ self-esteem and confidence.
• Monitor, record and report on student progress.
• Work 1:1 or in small groups with students.
