Job summary

Fishbourne CofE Primary School is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work 22.5 hours per week on a temporary, part-time basis. You will support pupils in class, under the direction of the class teacher, to promote learning and well-being.

The role involves assisting with curriculum delivery, supervising break times, and contributing to behaviour support, safeguarding, and administrative tasks. A flexible, child-centered approach is essential.

  • Follow all school policies including Behaviour, Child Protection, Health & Safety and Learning & Teaching.

Job Title: Learning SupportAssistant

Reports to: Headteacher

Hours: 22.5 hours (Temporary,part time)

Location: Fishbourne CE PrimarySchool

Function of the post:

Contributeto pupils’ development including their physical and mental well-being, andsupporting teaching and learning in the class room, providing general andspecific assistance to pupils under the direction, guidance and directsupervision of the class teacher.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • In liaison with and under the guidance of the class teacher, support pupils on an individual or small groupbasis to complete activities, encouraging and developing independent learning.
  • Assist with delivery of the curriculumin all areas, supporting the learning outcomes using the teacher’s plannedteaching and learning methods.
  • Support the school inimplementing a consistent behaviour policy, encouraging excellent behaviourthrough positive feedback and praise, reinforcing school rules and procedureswith clear expectations, and raising concerns about any behaviours with theclass teacher.
  • As directed by the classteacher, monitor and record children’s responses to learning, and feedback tothe teacher on pupils’ progress, in accordance with school policy.
  • Assist in break-time andlunchtime supervision, including facilitating games and activities, andundertake first-aid duties.
  • Assist with special activities(e.g. sports days, plays, concerts, open days), accompany children on schoolvisits, and where appropriate be involved in extracurricular activities (e.g.clubs, presentation evenings)
  • Provide clerical andadministrative support to the class teacher (e.g. photocopying, filing,collation of reports and pupil work)
  • Participate in meetings,employer training and development and in performance management, contributingto the identification of their own and of team development needs.
  • Follow all school policies withspecific reference to the Behaviour, Child Protection, Health and Safety andLearning and Teaching policies.
