Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd, a training provider, is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work with learners with additional needs in the South East. You will support learners one-to-one and in small groups, helping them engage with the curriculum and build confidence.

This entry-level, temporary role focuses on adapting resources, monitoring progress, and collaborating with teaching staff to remove barriers to learning.

Qualifications

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant with a training provider, you'll work alongside teaching staff to give learners with additional needs the individual attention that helps them engage, progress and grow in confidence.

You'll support learners one to one and in small groups, adapting your approach to suit different needs and learning styles, and building the positive relationships that help learners develop independence.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to learners with additional needs, both in and out of the classroom.
• Working alongside teaching staff to help learners access the curriculum and complete their work.
• Encouraging learners to build confidence, motivation and independence.
• Adapting resources and support to remove barriers to learning.
• Monitoring and feeding back on learner progress to teaching colleagues.

What We're Looking For

• Experience of supporting learners with additional needs, or a background in care
• Patience, sensitivity and strong communication skills
• The ability to build positive, professional relationships with learners and staff
• A genuine commitment to inclusive learning

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience of working with SEN or SEMH learners
• Knowledge of EHCPs and learning support strategies
• A relevant qualification in education or support work
