Job description

Learning Support Assistant - Inclusion (TA Level 2) (30 hours per week term time only, one year contract)

Required as soon as possible, a motivated person to work within the Inclusion department as a Teaching Assistant Level 2. The work will be directed by the Assistant Headteacher/Inclusion manager and will involve supporting the learning of children with cognitive and learning needs as well as those with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

The Teaching Assistant Level 2 post will be based at the Study Hub and the role will be to assist the teacher in their classroom.

The Study Hub is an annex of Frederick Gough School. Its purpose is to provide alternative provision for learners 13-16 from a diverse range of backgrounds. Often our pupils have had difficulties in mainstream settings. Some pupils have additional SEND needs or have had adverse childhood experiences. The focus is therefore to provide support around wellbeing and emotional regulation whilst ensuring opportunities for academic attainment and post-16 options.

Frederick Gough School has been the most oversubscribed school in North Lincolnshire for the past nine years. Ofsted (Nov 2023) described our school as truly comprehensive where pupils are happy, kind and respectful and where teachers and leaders are proud to work. We genuinely believe in education being the key to ensuring a successful society for the future and would ask that you read our curriculum intent on our website as well as other key documents to get a feel of what we are about. We are proud of our values and positive culture and have attached some of the additional benefits of being part of the Fred Gough Family.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect applicants to have the same commitment. For all applicants there will be an enhanced DBS check including children's barred list information. It is an offence for anyone barred from working with children to apply for this position.

Interested candidates are welcome to visit the school by appointment in advance to meet Ruth Eyre (Assistant Head/Inclusion Manager).

The closing date for applications is noon on Friday, September 4, with interviews expected to be held during the following two weeks.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a safer recruitment, self-disclosure form and submit it prior to interview. References will be obtained prior to interview and an online search carried out following 'Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025'.

As an employer, we promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect the same commitment from existing and prospective employees or volunteers. Recruitment to this post will follow our safer recruitment procedure which includes us requesting references prior to interview and a DBS check.
