Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism and associated needs.
  • Familiarity with communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC.
  • Experience supporting pupils with sensory needs, challenging behaviour, or medical needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Team Teach or other behaviour management training (desirable).

Learning Support Assistant – Supporting Pupils with ASC and Associated Needs

Location: BS13 Pay Rate: £95–£107 per day Hours: Full-time or Part-time available Start Date: October 2025

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist provision supporting pupils with autistic spectrum condition (ASC) with complex/associated needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning and sensory needs.
  • Assist in structured learning activities and therapeutic interventions.
  • Support pupils with communication difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and emotional regulation.
  • Help implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required.
  • Promote independence, engagement, and inclusion in all aspects of school life.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals.

Experience Required:

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism and associated needs.
  • Familiarity with communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC.
  • Experience supporting pupils with sensory needs, challenging behaviour, or medical needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Team Teach or other behaviour management training (desirable).
