Job summary

A leading educational support provider in Bristol is looking for a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to help pupils with severe learning difficulties and complex ASC needs. The ideal candidate will provide both one-on-one and small group support, assist in educational activities, and promote inclusivity. Experience in supporting children with autism and communication difficulties is essential. This is a full-time role with a pay rate of £95–£107 per day.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with severe learning difficulties and/or complex autism.
  • Familiarity with communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Learning Support Assistant – Supporting Pupils with Severe or Profound Learning Difficulties & Complex ASC Needs

Location: BS13 Pay Rate: £95–£107 per day Hours: Full-time or Part-time available Start Date: October 2025

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist provision supporting pupils with severe or profound learning difficulties and autistic spectrum condition (ASC) with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning and sensory needs.
  • Assist in structured learning activities and therapeutic interventions.
  • Support pupils with communication difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and emotional regulation.
  • Help implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required.
  • Promote independence, engagement, and inclusion in all aspects of school life.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals.

Experience Required:

  • Experience working with children or young people with severe learning difficulties and/or complex autism.
  • Familiarity with communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC.
  • Experience supporting pupils with sensory needs, challenging behaviour, or medical needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Team Teach or other behaviour management training (desirable).

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Relevant references covering the last 2 years.
  • Completion of safeguarding and SEN training (can be provided if needed).
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
