Job description

About the Role

This is a part-time, reduced-year role: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

We are seeking 4 Learning Support Assistants to join our team. This role requires an experienced SEND professional to lead through a matrix management approach across Luminate FE colleges for the placement and support of students with Educational Health Care Plans. This will include physically supporting students within the classroom, helping with personal care, and, at times, pushing a wheelchair. Additionally, you will be an operational main point of contact with local authorities and contribute to positive outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable students.

What You Will Do

  • Provide support within the classroom and during off-site visits.
  • Support students with additional needs, e.g., wheelchair users, hearing impairment, visual impairment, etc.
  • Participate in planning, preparation, and assessment of learning as part of the course team.
  • Offer in-class support to meet the needs of students with high needs.
  • Provide curriculum teachers/assessors and Learning Support team members with verbal and written reports on students with high needs or SEN.
  • Assist with emergency evacuation plans and practices, and support all emergency evacuations.
  • Keep accurate and timely records, including progress and strategies used, as required.

About You

  • Must have English and Mathematics at Level 2 / GCSE grade C/ level 3 or above.
  • Relevant experience, knowledge, and understanding of working in the Sector, including personal care and supporting students who use wheelchairs. Relevant qualification in a related area.
  • IT literate.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and students at all levels in the college.
