Job summary

SWRAC is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (One-to-One) in Widnes to support young adults with SEND in a full-time role.

The position runs Monday to Friday, 9 am–5 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. The role involves delivering personalised support, assisting with ILPs, and collaborative teamwork across centres as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting learners with SEND in educational settings.
• Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent) required.
• Level 2/3 qualification in learning support or equivalent.
• Ability to work in a team and follow ILP targets.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support as directed by the Head of Learning or tutor.
• Support learners in groups and individually.
• Act as scribe/reader/exam invigilator when needed.
• Support learners during breaks and travel training.
• Monitor and review ILP targets with the team.
• Assist learners on work experience placements, on- and off-site.

Salary: £29,348 a year

We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants (One-to-One) to join our friendly team at our Widnes Centre and help make a positive difference to the lives of young adults with SEND. However, there may be a requirement to work at other centres from time to time.

This is a full-time role working from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (with 30 minutes lunch break).

Job Description

• To support learners with LDD/SEND in a variety of classroom settings


• To provide one-to-one support as directed by the Head of Learning or the class tutor


• Provide learning support within a group and on an individual basis


• To act as a scribe/reader/exam invigilator as required


• To support students during breaks


• To contribute to learners’ ILPs


• To work closely with team members to ensure that ILP targets are monitored and reviewed


• To be aware of individual learners’ risk assessments and needs


• To support learners to access transport and with travel training_


• To accompany learners during work experience placements, both on and off-site


• Accompany learners on outings, visits, community and recreational activities


• Encourage independence and self-help skills wherever possible.


• Keep records associated with the support role.


• To undertake any other duties relevant to the role as required

Experience And Qualifications

• Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent essential)


• Level 2/3 Qualification in learning support or equivalent


• Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools


• Award in Education


• ELSA experience


• Understanding of working with young adults who have SEND


• Awareness of disabilities.


• Ability to relate well to children and vulnerable young adults


• Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these settings.


• Experience of working with SEND young people in an educational establishment.


• Working with or caring for vulnerable young people with learning disabilities of relevant age.


• Working with children or vulnerable young people with learning disabilities or challenging emotional and behavioural difficulties.
