Job summary

Academics Gloucester is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work in a specialist school. You will provide direct 1-2-1 support for pupils with additional learning needs and assist with group activities to aid engagement and progress.

Successful candidates will have experience with learning disabilities and a relevant qualification. The role emphasises nurturing, resilience and a proactive approach to fostering emotional wellbeing and inclusive classroom participation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children and/or adults with learning disabilities.
• A degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology or a Level 3 childcare qualification is desirable.
• Self-motivated, resilient and nurturing.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-2-1 support for pupils in the classroom.
• Guide small group activities to reinforce learning.
• Help increase pupils' interpersonal skills, communication and everyday life skills.
• Support the class teacher with general classroom duties.
• Make the classroom a fun and exciting learning environment.
