SEN Learning Support Assistant - Moderate Learning Needs - Aspiring Clinical Psychologist - Woking

This school is known to be one of the best SEN schools in Surrey. They provide a safe learning environment for children with complex learning, social, and communication difficulties, which may include physical disabilities. The school also offers therapies such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, music, speech, and language therapies where these are part of a young person's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The team works closely with therapists to ensure the physical and emotional support of the children. The school has excellent facilities and on-site equipment, including a therapy pool, sensory rooms, and I-Gaze technology. There is also excellent on-site training and support, helping staff progress to roles such as senior support assistants, teachers, therapy assistants, etc.

The Children: Children have various special needs, including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, and Physical Disabilities, with some children being non-verbal or requiring personal care.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Providing assistance and support for children before, during, and after lessons
  • Assisting children in understanding and participating in tasks appropriately
  • Encouraging the development of social skills
  • Maintaining individual student records
  • Helping to build confidence and motivation
  • Participating in team meetings and training programs as an active team member
  • Supporting the developing culture of the organization in collaboration with managers and colleagues
  • Following safeguarding regulations
  • Supporting individual needs, including medical and personal care tasks as necessary (training provided)
