Ysgol Y Deri is a local authority day special school maintained by the Vale of Glamorgan local authority. Currently, there are over 444 pupils on roll. On the Penarth site, pupils are aged between 3 and 19. We support children and young people with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, social emotional and mental health needs, or autistic spectrum disorders. Due to expansion, Ysgol Y Deri is recruiting dynamic and energising Learning Support Assistants to join our team. We believe school should be unmissable.

About The Role

Pay Details: Grade 5 SP (8 - 12) £25,992 - £27,711 + SEN allowance Pro rata (pending 2025 pay agreement)

Hours of Work / Weeks per year / Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday–Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm, Term time only.

Main Place of Work: Ysgol Y Deri (Penarth)

Description

Ysgol Y Deri is interested in recruiting dynamic and energising Learning Support Assistants to join our team. We seek individuals willing to support various curriculum areas and activities, helping pupils engage and enjoy life-affirming experiences. Recognising the importance of both high support and high challenge, experience in special needs is not essential but understanding of learners with ALN or social, emotional, and mental health needs is advantageous.

  • Passionate about working with children, supportive, and capable of helping pupils thrive across various activities and group sizes.
  • Committed to making a real difference in young people's lives, humble, confident, enthusiastic, and able to set boundaries. Can you be an extraordinary role model?
  • Excellent classroom practice, including ICT skills, high expectations, and a team-oriented approach.
  • Must have an enhanced and barred DBS for Child and Adult, and be registered with EWC.
