Job summary

A leading educational organization is seeking a passionate Secondary School Learning Support Assistant in Wandsworth. Job description

Role: Secondary School Learning Support Assistant

Location: Wandsworth

Hours: Full time - Monday - Friday (8:30AM - 4:00PM)

Start date: September 2025

Are you passionate about working in education?

Are you interested in supporting underperforming or SEN students, mainly those with Autism, Speech and Language and Additional Learning Needs?

Are you confident, energetic with a positive attitude?

If so, then look no further than our Secondary Learning Support Assistant position! Your role will be providing support to a variety of children in KS3/KS4 on a 1:1 and 1:2 basis who are diagnosed with Autism and additional learning needs.

To thrive as a Learning Support Assistant, it's desirable for you to have:

  • A genuine passion for supporting secondary aged students.
  • Experience working with children with Autism.
  • Experience with children who have communication and behavioural needs.
  • Experience working with children with additional learning needs.
  • Have a natural enthusiasm for working with children.
  • The ability to monitor and record a child's progress.
  • An understanding of safeguarding children.
  • A positive, caring, energetic, can-do attitude.
  • Team Teach training is preferable.
  • ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) is preferable.

Duties include (but aren't limited to):

  • 1:1 support with a child or small groups
  • Supporting the class as a whole
  • Assisting the class teacher
  • Fostering relationships with parents
  • Caring and looking after children during break times and lunch times
  • Supervising children during activities
  • Managing challenging behaviour
  • Motivating children and being an excellent role model

Degree holders or applicants holding an NVQ/Level 3 qualification in Childcare are welcome, as are Learning Support Assistants with experience in school settings.
