Job summary

Morgan Hunt is recruiting Learning Support Assistants for colleges across East London. These ongoing temporary opportunities focus on helping students with additional learning needs achieve their educational goals.

Responsibilities include one-to-one and small-group support, assisting with curriculum access, and promoting independence and participation. DBS and right-to-work checks apply, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in learning support or with young people with learning disabilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
• Right to Work & Enhanced DBS within 3 months or update service.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students in classrooms across subjects and levels.

• Encourage independence, confidence, and active participation in learning activities.
• Monitor and record student progress, attendance and effectiveness of support.
• Support students' emotional, social and pastoral needs while promoting positive behaviour.
• Work closely with lecturers and support staff to implement learning strategies and reasonable adjustments.
• Reinforce learning by helping students practise and develop skills taught in lessons.
• Accompany students on educational visits and support participation in college activities.

Morgan Hunt is currently recruiting for Learning Support Assistants on behalf of several colleges and sixth forms across East London. These are ongoing temporary opportunities for individuals passionate about supporting students with additional learning needs and helping them achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students in classroom settings across a range of subjects and levels.
• Assist students with learning difficulties, disabilities, and additional support needs to access the curriculum effectively.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and active participation in learning activities.
• Monitor and record student progress, attendance, and the effectiveness of support provided.
• Support students' emotional, social, and pastoral needs while promoting positive behaviour.
• Work closely with lecturers and support staff to implement learning strategies and reasonable adjustments.
• Reinforce learning by helping students practise and develop skills taught during lessons.
• Accompany students on educational visits and support participation in college activities where required.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience supporting students in an educational, SEND, or learning support environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and internet research.
• Understanding of safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• Commitment to supporting students with disabilities and learning difficulties.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development.
• Literacy and Numeracy qualifications at Level 2 or above (or willingness to work towards them).

Qualifications:

• Experience in learning support or working with young people with learning disabilities.
• Experience within an educational environment providing academic or personal care support.
• Willingness to provide personal care support to individuals with high needs.
• Right to Work & Enhanced Adult/Child DBS dated within the last three months or on the update service.

Education Requirements:

• Relevant qualifications in education or support work.
• Literacy and Numeracy qualification at Level 2 or above is desirable.

Experience Requirements:

• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
