Learning Support Assistant Coventry September

Twenty4Seven Education is seeking a caring and dependable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a Good Ofsted-rated All-Through School in Coventry. This wonderful full-time opportunity is to start September on a long-term basis.

Your new role:

You will provide support that significantly enhances the personal development of students, allows them to access the full curriculum with confidence, and allows them to make rapid progress. You will have a profound and positive impact on the climate for learning by instilling high expectations. You will be a visible, reliable and integral part of the team making a positive difference to students and staff. You will demonstrate a passion for learning and commit to improving your practice through self-evaluation and professional development.

Responsibilities and tasks:

1) Personal and professional conduct

Safeguard pupils well-being by following relevant statutory guidance along with school policies, procedures and practice

Demonstrate positive attitudes, values and behaviours to develop and sustain effective relationships with the school community

2) Knowledge and understanding

Excellent subject and National Curriculum knowledge

Demonstrate expertise and skills in understanding the needs of all pupils

3) Teaching and learning

Demonstrate an efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to support the work of the teacher and increase the achievement of all pupils including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Communicate effectively and sensitively with pupils to support their learning

Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school s policy and procedures

Support the monitoring, recording and reporting of pupil performance and progress

Maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment

To make resources, introduce strategies and incentives to encourage active engagement in lessons

Undertake a range of administrative duties

4) Working with others

Liaise effectively with other professionals, parents and carers

To work collaboratively with classroom teachers to share knowledge to inform planning and decision making.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Satisfactory references covering the last 2 years
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (Child) on the Update Service or willing to pay and apply for a new one (Twenty4Seven Education can assist you with this process)
  • GCSE or equivalent level, including at least at Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Maths
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant Diploma (or equivalent) is desirable
  • Experience working with children within an educational setting or similar (minimum of 3 months of experience)
  • Good Literacy, Numeracy and IT skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and active listening skills
  • Great organisation skills
