Job Description

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our Education Centre in Chatham. The role involves supporting teaching staff in delivering a broad range of academic and vocational subjects within the classroom and around the centre.

We are a supportive and friendly team committed to providing quality education within the local community to meet its needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and focus on achieving desired outcomes for learners across all subjects, considering various progression pathways to prepare learners for suitable opportunities.
  • Understand the needs of all learners, including those with LDD/SEND, and implement supportive strategies as outlined in group profiles and initial assessments.
  • Engage and motivate learners, supporting the delivery of tailored programmes that meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on learner progress against targets, including qualifications and pastoral support requirements.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to support learner needs in a multi-agency setting.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting young people in an educational setting (desirable).
  • Experience working with LLDD students with SEN (desirable).
  • Level 2 English & Maths qualifications (essential).
  • Enhanced DBS check with Barred Lists (essential).

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Calm and objective in challenging situations.

Please note, this part-time role currently covers Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, but this can be discussed during the interview.
