Job summary

The Gerrards Cross CofE School in England is seeking a proactive teaching assistant to support learning across key stages. You will work with children to reinforce literacy and numeracy, support small groups, and assist teachers in daily classroom activities.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualification and Experience
  • Experience of working with relevantage groups within a learning environment.
  • Good verbal, numeracy and literacyskills.
  • Previous learning supportexperience would be an advantage
Be willing to undertake:
  • NVQ 2/3 for Teaching Assistants orequivalent qualifications or experience.
  • Training in relevant learningstrategies eg literacy.
  • First aid and child protection training.
  • Additional training as necessary toensure individual children’s needs are met.
Knowledge and Understanding
  • Effective use of ICT to supportlearning.
  • Use of other equipment andtechnology to support learning – video, photocopier etc.
  • Understanding of relevantpolicies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
  • General understanding ofnational/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learningprogrammes/strategies.
  • Basic understanding of childdevelopment and learning.
  • Ability to relate well to childrenand adults.
  • Able to work constructively as partof a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.
  • Able to work with and be directedby fellow professionals.
