What are we looking for?

TCHC is seeking a Learning Support Assistant who is creative and engaging, capable of enabling individual learners to achieve their qualifications and develop their skills. The role involves working with individuals who may present challenges, requiring patience, empathy, and strategic support to help them reach their aspirations across all subjects.

Qualifications

• Qualified to DTLLS/Cert Ed/ PGCE (or equivalent), desirable
• Learning support qualification or willingness to work towards
• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and maths at grade C or above, essential
• SEND Experience (desirable)
• SEND CPD (desirable)

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

• Reinforce learning and assist students with learning needs
• Support students in recording work appropriately and developing study skills
• Help keep students focused and motivated, modeling good practice
• Build students’ confidence and self-esteem
• Collaborate with tutors in planning lessons and activities
• Prepare students for tasks and support differentiated activities
• Assist in implementing specific instructions and supervising practical tasks
• Record and evaluate students’ progress, supporting the creation of individual learning plans
• Provide one-to-one support and act as a key worker for specific learners
• Liaise with team members to ensure learners meet their targets and progress
• Review EHCPs to identify learning needs and ensure resources are in place
• Encourage and guide learners, supporting positive outcomes
• Accurately complete documentation within deadlines
• Create supportive learning environments and promote independent learning
• Maintain up-to-date CPD relevant to your subject area
• Ensure access to lessons for students with special needs through appropriate adjustments
• Build respectful, supportive relationships with students
