A nurturing, inclusive school in Great Dunmow, specializing in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support, helping students engage with learning activities and achieve their personal and academic targets.
  • Assist teachers in creating an inclusive, therapeutic, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Support students with emotional regulation, social development, and behavior management, promoting self-esteem and resilience.
  • Implement strategies to support a wide range of learning, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with staff to ensure each child’s development is nurtured.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured, and positive atmosphere that fosters academic progress and emotional well-being.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar support role is desirable, especially with SEMH or SEN students.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
  • A passion for making a positive, lasting difference in children’s lives.
