We're recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join an education setting in Stockton-on-Tees, working with children and young people who need additional support to access learning and make progress.
This is a varied, hands‑on position where you'll work alongside teaching and support staff while building strong relationships with the pupils you support.
Your role will change according to the needs of individual pupils and the activities taking place that day.
You’ll work closely with teachers and other professionals to make sure support is consistent, purposeful and appropriate to each pupil.
You might already be working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Assistant or Support Worker, or have relevant experience working with children and young people in another setting.
We're looking for someone who can build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.
Experience supporting different learning needs, SEND or barriers to education would be particularly useful.
You’ll also need an appropriate Enhanced DBS or be willing to complete the required checks.
This could be particularly valuable if you're interested in developing a longer‑term career in teaching, SEND, pastoral support, psychology, behaviour support or wider education.
You’ll gain practical experience of how children learn differently, how individual support is planned and how education professionals work together around a young person.
For experienced Learning Support Assistants, it also offers the opportunity to bring your existing skills into a new setting and broaden your experience.
You don’t need to have all the answers.
You do need the patience to find out what works for the individual pupil in front of you.
If that sounds like the way you approach supporting young people, we'd like to hear from you.
